New York Night Photography Summit

Thank you for joining us for our first night photography summit!
We at National Parks at Night are thrilled to be joined by PhotoPills and the Photographic Federation of Long Island, and for having BenQ, B&H Photo and Bay Photo Lab on board as sponsors. We’re all geared up—in both meanings of the term—to bring you three days of night photography education and two nights of shooting after dark at Fire Island National Seashore.

What to Expect

day sessions will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m.

What to Bring
daytime seminars: pen and notepad, computer or tablet for taking notes
lunch (or you may go out to eat during the break)
Who Will be There
BenQ will be on-site with their color-accurate monitors Saturday and Sunday, available at a Summit-special 10 percent off for the duration of the weekend
B&H Photo will be on-site Friday and Sunday, running deals on much of our preferred night photography gear
Bay Photo Lab will have prints on display and special offers available
PhotoPills will be available for guidance in using their photo scouting and planning app
National Parks at Night will have books for sale, and will be available to discuss any questions about night photography and workshops
Sunday Image Review
bring one night photograph from the Fire Island mini-workshop, or one night photograph you have shot elsewhere that you may have struggled with or have questions about
we will learn from each other in a panel discussion image review of everyone’s work

we highly prefer that you upload your image per above, but if for some reason you cannot, you may submit it on a thumb drive no later than 10 a.m. Sunday at the National Parks at Night table

What to Expect
five hours of amazing night photography at Fire Island National Seashore!
small-group instruction and assistance from four National Parks at Night instructors and the Bard of PhotoPills
in the event of weather bad enough to preclude outdoor photography, we do have alternate and indoor plans, so you will learn night photography and light painting skills no matter what
What to Bring
cameras
wide/fast lenses
tripod
intervalometer or remote shutter release
flashlights
clothing layers
a sandwich or light meal to eat on-site, or you can eat quickly beforehand (there will be a 1.5-hour break between the Summit sessions and the night shoot, and there are plenty of restaurants in the area)
Parking
space is limited at the Fire Island National Seashore shoot location, so please park at Robert Moses State Park Field 5
drivers from PFLI will shuttle you to the shoot location, or you may walk 3/4-mile to the site
arrive early enough to be at the lighthouse by 6 p.m.—we will start promptly
rides will be available all evening should you wish to retire early from the shoot
